An Award From Artie and a Smooch From Me!

First off, I'd like to thank my beautiful, sexy, talented, funny, wonderful friend Artie from Color Outside the Lines for giving me this new blogger award. He also gave it to two other blogger friends and said such wonderful, heartfelt things about all three of us, which is just how Artie is. Thank you so much my friend. My blog will wear it with pride!

I also want to take a moment to thank all of my beautiful friends out there, far and wide, who are being so very supportive of me right now when I truly need it. You'll never know how much your comments mean to me... how much they make me smile and lift me up when I'm down. Some are truly so damn funny that I nearly split my sides laughing. What better medicine could a gal ask for?

I was afraid to go to sleep last night, and each time I woke up (I wake up a LOT during the night) I thanked God I was still alive. Sounds dramatic, but it's true. Anyway, I will be going to the sleep study clinic tonight, and I'll be sure to update all of you tomorrow as to how it went.

I did do some light reading last night about sleep apnea and found that any breathing loss over 30 times per hour is considered severe sleep apnea. So if I stop breathing 101 times, what does that make mine? Am I some sort of medical anomaly? A complete freak of nature? I tell you what though, it's great to finally know why I always feel so lousy. I haven't had what I'd call a good day in many years. Naps, and long ones, are a daily thing for me. My whole body will just get heavy and weak and if I don't lay down I feel like I'll fall down. I've fallen asleep in very public places, have a hard time keeping my eyes open to drive and have fallen asleep during more than one family get-together at my in-laws' house. I'm sure it was very insulting to them, but it is NOT MY FAULT. Now I know that. Jimmy gets very aggravated when I take naps during the weekend, and part of me totally understands that. A mother should not be spending half her time sleeping the days away while her kids are growing faster than she can blink. But he can get spiteful about it too. Last Sunday he was obviously upset that I was sleeping again, so he blasted the music, plugged in the vacuum, and repeatedly banged it into my bedroom door. Ah, what a good rest that was!

But, I seem to have gone off on a tangent again. This post was just supposed to be a thank you to Artie for the award, and a big thank you to all of you for your love and support! And I do thank you, from the bottom of my little sleep deprived heart! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Friends}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} ::::::::::::::::::::::::::SMOOCH::::::::::::::::::::::::: (Stuck some tongue in there for G-Man. Hope you don't mind, French!)

You are in my prayers, Justine. Karen

  • SmilingSally

I'm glad you were able to get some sleep last night, with all of the aggravation you've been through, and thank goodness that tonight, you'll be in the experts' hands. I care.

  • Bridget

Oh Lord have mercy! LOL ...that last remark!!!

No, it's not dramatic at all. I would feel the same damn way girl!

I was all set up to give you that award when I went back are reread Artie's and realized that he had given it to you already. Yesterday was just a stressful day and it didn't all soak in when I read his the first time. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you were on my list of blogs that I love. I couldn't keep it to only five though so I'm handing it out to seven bloggers. I did have some restraint.

So that's why I had to pick you out of the pasta when we met that time? and I just thought I'd bored you to death!

No not really folks - I must have been extremely entertaining as she didn't fall alseep once.

You deserve that award if only for the last post about being one of the poor people.

Oh and BTW I haven't forgotten the picture frame you gave me - it's just that I couldn't get the printer to print out at the right size and orientation the other day when I tried.

I woke up this morning thinking about you, I want to wish you good luck today with your test. Just keep in mind how wonderful you're going to feel after all of this is over.

  • Bridget

Tiney Bo Beany, I have a special blog badge for you. It is at the bottom of my post today.

  • santamaker

SO GLAD you are going in tonight!!! You are so witty even with a sleep deprived brain that I can't imagine how it could get any better with a well rested brain full of fresh oxygen! You Go, girl!

  • Buffie

MMMMUUUUAAAAHHHH! right back at ya girl!!!!! I want to know every detail of that sleep study tonight!!

  • onlymehere

Justine, I hope it goes well tonight while you're hooked up to CPAP. This is a pretty scary thing but at least your doctors are getting a grip on it and you'll be feeling better soon. Thank heavens your anesthesiologist didn't let the sinus surgery go forward or you might not be here now. I know things are rough around there right now but I also know and read the tremendous support you have in blogland. I wish we lived closer together so we could help out more but we are here for you to vent or do and say whatever you need to. People truly don't understand how draining and tired it can be when you're not fully rested. After my sleep study and then subsequent fixing of my septum I sleep well. It made a million percent difference in my life. I'm also hypothyroid and my husband had a hard time accepting how tired I was and sick from it. It helped immenesely that my endocrinologist explained to him that the hypothyroidism along with other things going on left me totally without energy. Larry kind of made a smart remark (he is a smart aleck) and my doctor let him know that he wasn't joking and that I really was sick and gave him suggestions on how to help out. This was eons ago when I had two little ones and it made a world of difference in Larry's attitude. He kind of just thought I'd gotten lazy. Life is much better now those things are under control. My point is maybe these specialists need to have a talk with Jimmy. It could open his eyes to what you're really going through and that you haven't just gotten lazy on him (Larry thought I had before "the talk.") Good luck. I'll be praying for you. Cindy

Good to hear from you this morning; you seem better than last night. Hope you're going to get to that new test soon!

  • Raxx - A day in the life

Justine good luck tonight, hope this is the beginning of better health for you, sending my love and prayers!

  • momoflots

Thanks for visiting my blog! I agree those flowers we consider to be weeds are a good example to us aren't they? They just never give up :0)!!

  • Penny

It has to be hard to even think about anything other than your next cup of coffee, or when you can take a nap when you can never get enough sleep. Pretty scary! Best wishes tonite, and for God's sake please make them get back with you tomorrow about what you need to do. That report was a little slack in getting to you girl!

  • Unknown

    Congrats!!! on your fabulous award.
I really hope they find something that can help you with your sleep apnea. *hugs* I know how rough it is when you want to be able to do things with your kids and you just physically can't.

  • Karen

Thinking about you and hoping the sleep clinic will help you. Karen

  • Naz

Justine, once they get you on one of those breathing machines for nighttime sleeping you will feel 100% better. My sister inlaw said she felt like a new person once she got that under control.

I don't think your husband understands how serious this condition this can be and he needs to educate himself on it.

  • Rhea

Congrats on your blog award! You totally deserve it. I enjoyed reading what you have to say and I love how you dish out honesty and tell it like it is.

Your hubby is being a total and complete asshat!!

    I'm so sorry.

Let us know how things go.

  • niartist

Oh you're so very welcome Justine! And SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCHHHHHHHA! To you to too! Don't worry about the sleep apnea thing. My aunt had it and after she did the sleep test, they gave her a mask to sleep with and now she's feeling great! I think she lost breath something like 100+ times too, and they didn't snap her picture for the medical dictionary. ;)

  • Gucci Mama

So, um yesterday when I said I wanted to kick him in the nuts? Well, I don't want to do that anymore. I mean, I could damage a perfectly good pair of designer shoes, and we all know how expensive those are. So instead, I'm going to ask my husband if I can borrow his tack hammer. It was cheap and it already has some scratches.

In other news, even though the news of your condition is not the best news in the world, at least now you know. I think it's always better to know, because then you can do something. So, I am praying that your next sleep study tonight reveals a treatment that will work wonders, so you will be able to get back into enjoying life and your kids and everything that goes along with that.

And maybe, dare I say, tell Jimmy Pants to have a care not to let the door hit him in the ass on the way out??

OK, off to polish my tack hammer...

Best to you, my friend. You are loved.

  • nikkicrumpet

hmmm didn't know we could tongue kiss French's hubby. Line forms behind me! Good luck with the study tonight!

  • Tootsie

good luck in the sleep study....but I have One teeny tiney little question for you.....once you fix the apnea problem....what excuse are you going to have for beating Jimmy up all night every night? You now have a wonderful excuse why you slap and punch him (and we all know it is hilarious to read) but how will you explain it once you are all better?

good luck on the study girl...I hope you get this fixed real fast

  • Grammy

I wish they did not tell you how many times you stopped breathing. Some times the more you know the worse it is. My hubby has to go back Oct 9, for the same thing. But he has no ideal what is going on. So he has no worries.
I send you a big hug. And best wishes.

I am thinking of and praying for you! Tell Jimmy that I am morbidly overweight and have smoked for 26 years and I do not have sleep apnea.
    Take care!

I hope you got a good night's sleep last night.

  • squawmama

Tiney... Listen this is all going to be good for you... Be thankful they found out about it and soon you'll be feeling so much better. Ralph sleeps with one of those machines and he has been so much more alert, active and never takes a nap anymore.. He got use to it and now doesn't want to be without it. You are great... my first blog friend, my first award giver and the funniest person I know... Keep your chin Up - Up - Up... but not so high you could drown if it rains... I am thinking of you and know you'll be strong...

    Love Ya,
    Donna
