Today I opened my mailbox and found a gift from Cindy and I have to say, it's the cheesiest thing I've ever received in my life! I know, I know, you can't believe how rude I'm being, but when I show you a picture of it you'll totally understand where I'm coming from!
Here, let me show you, and you decide if it's cheesy or not...
Hee hee hee! I got ya, didn't I? Come on now, did you really think ol' Tiney would be so ungrateful? Can you believe Cindy actually went to the cheese curd factory, bought this bag for me and sent it all the way here to Florida? Just so I could really see for myself if this cheese squeaks when you bite into it. And yes, it does! I even made Mikayla try it, even though she's not a big cheese fan. Excuse her hair... she'd just gotten off the windy bus!
Mikayla's take on the squeaky cheese? Well, she spit it out so I'm assuming she doesn't like it much. I tried a piece myself and it definitely takes some getting used to. It's kind of wet on the outside and very dry on the inside. Of course, this could have been from the shipping and the heat down here. Now that it's in the refrigerator, it supposedly loses it's "squeak", so you're supposed to microwave for 30 seconds before eating. I'm going to try that later, and I bet it will change the consistency on the inside a lot! Either way, it's got great flavor!
Cindy, thank you so much for being such a great blogger friend, and taking the time to send this to me! I really do appreciate it!
***Quick update! Madison just tried some microwaved squeaky cheese (30 seconds is WAY too long!) and LOVED IT!***
mmmmm, yummmm. Love the windblown hair too! She's adorable.
enjoy your 'cheesy' gift! That was so sweet of cindy to send it!
Where is this cheese curd factory??
Who would WANT cheese to squeak?
I LOVE cheese curds... you can't get them in FLorida but we are swinging by Minnesota and I'll be sure to load up on some there... They are great deep fried... ;-D
I am not a big fan of cheese except when I have pinnapple casseroll. I now there is a misspelled word somewhere.Heee Kathy
Now I'm being serious Justine. If curds squeek it means they are fresh! To acquire the taste of curds you must whip up a batch of French Canadain POUTINE which is a combination of curds and a sauce that you use to smother French Fries with. The upside is it is a culinary experience for the taste buds; the downside is too much of it can be an artery clogger :) There are probably a number of recipes on the internet for different sauces, all of which are served piping hot. I'll gladly send you some St. Herbert Poutine prepacked Mix if you are willing to give it a try. Bon Appetite! Hugs -Brenda-
Kathy, do I even want to know why you'd eat a pineapple casserole and put cheese on it? Blechhhhhhhhh! Gross!
Brenda, thank you so much for the offer, but by the time your packet got her, my curds would be bad! I think I will look online for a recipe for them though. Great idea!!!!!!!!
Linda, the factory is somewhere in Utah. I don't know exactly where Cindy lives.
Justine :o )

Omg, with the bag wrinkled, I first thought it said Cheese Turd! roflmao
They make fried cheese curds at the county fair, and they are so delicious. I avoid them because I can't eat anything fried, but yummmm!
Kady
Alright, you want Edgy? Here are my ideas:
ByteMe, Bad Ass Articulations, Heavy on the NicoTine ... get it? Tine is in the title... I know... I'm a freakin' genius, what can I say?!
what is Santa thinkin?! I should be playing with the elves...
Good luck!
Dam I love cheese curds and they don't have them here!!! I'm jealous!! PS thanks for everything! French;)
Gosh, I'm going to have to look for these strange cheese curds next time I'm in MN or UT. Sounds interesting.
LOL Kady...cheese turds!
That is funny! I only get bills so I would jump up and down if some curds came my way!!!!!!
And there you are slagging off my steak and kidney puddings!
Add that to the Beef Jerky and Rootbeer and I think we have a case for kettles and black pots!
Girl, are you kidding me??? I've been telling you about cheese curds for years!! The problem is that yes, you need to get them fresh off the farm. They are a Wisconsin tradition (it is America's Dairyland, after all!) and absolutely fantastic beer-batter fried. Curds are one of the first things we eat when we visit my parents. Loooove them, but they gotta be super fresh.
Now I've got a craving I can't satisfy, darn it!
I never heard of cheese curds, but I give your girls credit for trying them.
I LOVE me some cheese. I will have to check this out, never heard of such a thing.
Wait a minute!! I had how many names?? and not one made it to the pondering list~~oh I see how it is!!! No coffee for you! [_]c
French;)
Cheese Curd? what the *&%$#@*%??
does it have to be refridgerated?
is it the same as squeaky cheese?
one word... BIZARRE
Justine,
Mikayla is so adorable! I can tell he is not enjoying that cheese curd.
Hey, the word "curd" concerns me! (Eeeek)
That was very sweet of Cindy to send you your "curds"
Cool! I've always wondered about cheese curd, ever since I read about it in Little House in the Big Woods!
