Touched By An Angel. Or Two.

About a week ago I had the privilege of having a reading done by Amity, also known as Sassy Pants Freckle Face here in Blogland. Amity describes herself as a metaphysical Catholic but to simplify it here, she's basically an angel reader. She uses Archangel oracle cards and calls on her guardian angels to give her guidance while doing a reading for you.

My first impression on Amity? Totally down to earth!!! She did my reading while picking up one of her daughters at school and continued on with it as she was going through the Wendy's drive-thru. Would you believe they had the nerve to hand her a Frosty with a hair on top? Ewwwww!

Amity and I were having a bit of a problem getting a good "connection" with one another. She said my mind is very scattered. Well geez, there's something I didn't already know! Anyway, I did some deep breathing and tried to clear my mind but you know how that goes when you're a bit of a mental case.

Some of things Amity said were spot-on, some more obscure and hard to figure out. Still yet there are some things that still make no sense to me, but I'm hoping that some day the light bulb in my brain will go off and I'll have a EUREKA! moment.

I won't go into detail on what the reading revealed, but I will tell you this. Amity is a wonderful, warm, loving woman and I know all of you would enjoy getting to know her. Please, go visit her at Sassy Pants Freckle Face and tell her I sent you along!

Now my second reference to an angel is of the human variety, in particular my good friend, Sara, from Sara's Sweet Surprise.

Recently Sara had a wonderful giveaway on her blog with an item so beautiful I knew it just had to be mine.  Of course, my name had to be put in the hat like any other but ooh bloggers, I won it!!!  Wait till some of you decor-junky-apothecary-lovin'-cloche-in-any-form covetous ladies get a load of this!  I only wish it had been sunny when I took this picture, but alas, it's been raining all day so the light just wasn't that good.  Plus, I didn't take the time to put it against a plain background so you really can't get the full effect of its gorgeousness.

But here it is... the mac daddy of all apothecary decanters!

This sucker is huge and the glass so fragile and beautiful.  I tell ya, I was doing Gloria's happy dance when I opened the box!

When I first learned that I'd won this, I thought it would be perfect for our homemade Baileys that we serve on Christmas Eve.  But... this sucker is so ginormous that we'd need a few gallons just to fill it up!  So, I went into Picket mode and started thinking of other ways I could use it.  And for now, this is what I came up with.

Ooh, there's that damn vacuum showing up in my pictures again!  Must remember to do some cropping before putting on the blog.

So what do you think?  Cute, right?  I think it needs a bit of ribbon around the finial (yeah, I know it's a lid but I feel fancy schmacy saying "finial", so leave me be!), but I don't have any handy at the moment.  And hey Gloria, you'll be happy to know those are plastic balls (heeheehee... I said balls) from Dollar Tree!

One last look, a close-up this time.

Sara, I don't know how to thank you enough for this wonderful, beautiful jar.  I love it so much, but not as much as I love you!!!

One last thing.  These pictures were taken with my brand spakin' new Nikon Coolpix L100 camera.  It's not the fanciest of cameras like I some day want to own but I lurvs this thing!  I exchanged another camera I had recently bought because the thing was so tiny I could barely hold it.  This is a nice chunky camera, perfect for my chunky hands!

A Look Inside

A few weeks ago I decided to move some furniture to make room for the Christmas tree.  I know, a bit premature but when I get any kind of domestic urge I just have to go with it because it doesn't last long!  Anyway, I took a few pictures along the way and figured I'd share them with you.

This is the oak bookcase that I bought at our recent garage sale.  I know, I haven't put anything on the bottom shelf yet and the top decor is atrocious.  I've told you before, I'm horrible at decorating.  Besides that, I totally hate that plate, but my mother got tired of it and gave it to me, so I figured I should display it for a few weeks before it enters the trash.  Heeheehee.

Anyway, I am an avid reader and literally have hundreds of books.  I've always wanted a barrister bookcase but of course there's never money for something like this.  When I brought it home Jimmy thought I was nuts to pay $60 for it, but come on, it is solid wood.  Sure, it wobbles a bit but it's really gorgeous.  Even though I hate oak.  Have I mentioned that lately?

While sitting out in my bitch cave with the window to my side open, I was able to get these shots of the family room.  That's the only wall I've painted in the house and I've grown to hate the color. It's a bit too deep and dark, but guess what?  It's staying that way!

Yes, that's a printer on the ugly speaker.  Can't figure out anywhere else to put it.  Okay, the truth is, I'm too lazy to move it.  So to explain the change.  The big couch to your right used to be right here in front of the window, facing the tv, and the smaller sofa was on the wall where the big one is now.  Got it?

No, my couch is not sprouting a horn.  I accidentally because I'm a lazy-ass left the vacuum out.

And can you believe we still have the old-fashioned, huge ugly box tv?  I want a flat-screen dammit!

See that beautiful poppy painting going up the stairs?  That is one of my favorite things that I own.  It was painted by that person who used to be a good friend and then tossed me out like yesterday's leftovers.  She gave it to me for my birthday and even framed it for me.  Even though she's a cold-hearted bitch, I still love it.

So, I do have burnt orange decorative pillows for the couches, but they're tucked safely away in a lidded basket since Strudel loves pillows.  And I do have a beautiful black and orange area rug, but Strudel thought that was a nice chew toy also, so it's put away in my closet for now.

Here I was standing close to the stairway looking out on the family room.  You can see my bitch chair through the window.  Nope, haven't decorated the bottom shelves of the sofa table yet.  See that rock thing?  It's a candle holder with an inscription in it, from my beautiful friend, Glenda, better known to all of you as Tootsie.  In the far corner is a ladder-like bookshelf that I got off of Craig's List months ago.  I had a close-up picture of how it's arranged but now I can't find it!

So, here's a closer look at the sofa table.  Is this shit exciting, or what?

Now you'll have to excuse the sag of the couches and such.  These things are pretty old... about 10 years or so I'd guess.

And that's about it folks.  Like I said in my post yesterday, I've started Christmas decorating but can't seem to finish it, so who knows when you'll see pictures of that, if ever!  All of you need to keep blogging about your decorating... maybe, just maybe it'll put a spark up my ass!

Funkity Funk Funk

Ugh, I've been in such a funk the past few days and can't seem to shake my hiney out of it!  I've been trying to keep up with everyone, but I really haven't felt like blogging myself.  I feel like I have nothing worthwhile to say.

I started my Christmas decorating but didn't finish it.  I can't seem to get myself motivated... can't find my Ho Ho Ho.  I'm all Ho-Hum.  Waaaaaaaaaaa

I'm blaming it all on my Thanksgiving holiday ending on a totally crap note.  Lately the great food just isn't worth the aggravation, frustration and barely veiled put-downs.

Someone help, because my jingle has gone all AWAY.
